The result of the ball is to put the pin in motion. In fact, the pin is initially stationary. As it experiences the force of the colliding ball, the pin accelerates, and its acceleration is given by Newton's second law of motion:

where F is the force of the bowling ball against the pin, m is the mass of the pin, and a is the pin's acceleration. As a result of this acceleration, the pin starts to move.
