KE = 1/2 * mass * velocity^2
KE = 1/2 * 5000 * 8^2
KE = 1/2 * 320000
KE = 160000 J

m = mass of elephant = 5000 kg

v = speed of elephant = 8 m/s

KE = kinetic energy of charging elephant

Kinetic energy is given as

KE = (0.5) m v²

inserting the values above

KE = (0.5) (5000) (8)²

KE = 160,000 J
