What is nick's social class/background in the great gatsby?

Nick was well off but certainly not part of the social elite. He is a young man from Minnesota who, after being educated at Yale moves to the suburbs of New York. Nick comes from an upper middle-class background (you had to have money to go to Yale, you still do!) Still , Nick's family did not have a fraction of the money that Gatsby or Tom had.
