self-fulfilling prophecies refers to the prediction that indirectly caused itself to be true. From the example above, when we give label to some children as 'ungifted', they would grow up thinking they do not have the potential to begin with, which caused them to make less effort int heir studies.
This eventually lead to under performance and fulfilled the initial 'ungifted' prophecies
