How many solutions are there to the equation 20x+40y=1000

There are infinite number of solutions.


If we graph the equation y = 1000/40 -20/40x   (see picture)

We can see that it is a line that extends from minus infinity to infinity. Thus there are infinite number of points that satisfy the relation.
