A fad is a temporary but widely copied activity followed enthusiastically by large numbers of people.
Fad means fashion, something which is popular for a brief moment, but takes over the world by storm. For example, chokers were hugely popular last year, or skinny jeans gained prominence in the previous years, when it comes to fashion.
