We can say that the revolts of 1848 were pretty successful in that it helped make way for the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, however the island of Sicily in southern Italy was only able to be independent for sixteen months. We can say that the revolts of 1848 were a good pathway to divergence, but not to complete sovereignty.
