Isolate the variable by dividing each side by factors that don't contain the variable.

[tex] - 14 + 2x > - 2[/tex]

[tex]2x > - 2 + 14[/tex]

[tex]2x > 12[/tex]

[tex]x > \: \frac{12}{2} [/tex]
