A box of marbles can be shared equally among 6,7 or 8students with 4 marbles left over each time. What is the least possible number of marbles in the box.

Let x be the total number of marbles.

(x-4) is divisible by 6, 7 and 8., Calculate the LCM of 6, 7, and 8

(LCM = 8x3x7 = 168)

Then (x-4) = 168 and X = 172 (least possible number of marbles)
