[tex]I: x+3y-12=0\\II: y=\frac{1}{3}x-6[/tex]

substitute y of II in I:
[tex]x+3*(\frac{1}{3}x)-12=0\\ 2x-12=0\\ x=6\\[/tex]

x=6 in II:
[tex]y=\frac{1}{3}*6-6\\ y=2-6=-4[/tex]

so (6,-4) should be the solution
