Neonatal jaundice affects almost half of all
newborns and they develop a yellowish tinge to their bodies because a neonate’s
liver doesn’t work properly at first.
It occurs when a baby has a huge level
of bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellow substance that the body
makes when it changes old red blood cells.
