This is called standered form:
[tex]ax^2+bx+c=0 [/tex]

This formula will guide you to the values of a, b, and c needed to find the discriminant

We are given:
0 = 2x^2 + x – 3

Ignore the 0=
2x^2 + x – 3

a=2

b=1
c=-3

Plug them into the discriminant :
[tex]b^2 - 4ac[/tex]

[tex](1)^2 - 4(2)(-3)=25[/tex]

Final answer: 25
