First, we multiply the denominator to get to 9. That would be x3. We then do that to the top, and end up with the fraction 3/9, which is equivalent to 1/3.

You would multiply (×) both the numerator and denominator by three to get your answer. Three times one equals three, and three times three equals nine. Your answer would be 3/9. To check your answer, simplify. Both three and nine go into three. When you simplify 3/9, you will get 1/3. So, three ninth would be able to equal one third. Hope this helps ya! :)
