Equation 1)  10x - 6y = 54
Equation 2)  -4x + 3y = -24

Multiply equation 2 by 2.

2)  2(-4x + 3y = -24)

2)  -8x + 6y = -48
1)  10x - 6y = 54

Add equations together.

2x = 6

Divide both sides by 2.

x = 3

Plug in 3 for x in equation 1.

10x - 6y = 54

10(3) - 6y = 54

Simplify.

30 - 6y = 54

Subtract 30 from both sides.

-6y = 24

Divide both sides by -6.

y = -4

(3, -4)
