Cotton comes from plants and its fiber is almost purely cellulose. Linen comes from the cellulose fibers that grow within the stalks of flax plants. Silk comes from certain insect larvae when they produce it while forming cocoons, mainly the cocoons of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in captivity. Wool comes from sheep and other animals.
