Adding energy can put the reaction in a state of equilibrium because more energy allows the reverse reaction, which is endothermic, to occur along with the forward reaction

 Exothermic reactions is when a chemical reaction releases more energy than it absorbs. Because reactions release or absorb energy, they affect the temperature of their surroundings. Exothermic reactions heat up their surroundings while endothermic reactions cool them down.
