Start by solving for the area of an 8 by 8 square. Then subtract of the area of the small triangle piece that is missing. 8x8= 64 then the triangle h=4 base= (8- 5.3)= 2.7 Area of tri= 1/2*b*h = (1/2) (2.7) (4) = 5.4 Finally 64-5.4= 58.6 in^2 then convert to feet 58.6 in^2 = .4069 ft^2
