One effect was the higher taxes on imported goods
The United States had a boom in manufacturing as they made most of the things that were exported to Europe or Asia. Since they wanted to protect the manufacturers who made so much, they introduced new tariffs on imported goods to prevent people from purchasing foreign things on American soil and this only made them even more successful.
