[tex]y = x^2 - 4x + 1[/tex]
The method to change it to the form [tex]y = a(x-h)^2+k[/tex] is to complete the square.
[tex]y=x^2-4x+1 \\ y-1 = x^2-4x \\ y-1+4 = x^2-4x+4 \\ y+3=(x-2)^2 \\ y=(x-2)^2-3[/tex]
