What were some results of the Laths and Clark ensedition? Did it do what Thomas Jettersen intended for it to do?

the Lewis and Clark expedition enabled Jefferson to have a better idea of what the land he purchased looked like. He made the Louisiana purchase not knowing what he had bought, since no American explorer had done a proper exploration. Once Lewis and Clark came back from the expedition and showed Jefferson their findings, he was able to find ways to colonize the land. :)
