This is easily done if you take the numerator, 3, and multiply by ten. You get 30. Now place the 30 over the denominator, 30/5, now reduce, 6 inches

If the snow falls at 3/5 per hour, then after 10 hours there will be (improper fraction) 30/5 or as a whole number; 6.
