Explanation:

Cementation is the process by which sediments are bonded together using some materials such calcium carbonate and iron oxide. This process of cementation helps to hold mineral grains together and give them thorough cohesion.

Stratification is the layering of sediments in a basin. The process by which sediments are deposited layer upon layer in a basin is known as a stratification.

The process of cementation often follows stratification after the sediment is in place.
