Assuming A, B and C are all on the same straight line, this means,

AB+BC = AC

through the segment addition postulate.

So,

AC = AB+BC

AC = (6x+2)+(5x+3)

AC = 6x+2+5x+3

AC = (6x+5x)+(2+3)

AC = 11x+5
