There are words, such as “odor” and then there’s “aroma” or “scent”. Words like “odor” have a denotative meaning, which means that they are thought of and used in a negative way. Connotative words, on the other hand, are used in a positive way to describe something or someone. Ex: The flowers have a nice scent. “Scent” is used instead of “odor” because I’m the context, the flowers smell good and, thus, a word with a connotative meaning should be used in that scenario.
