x + y = 4 1/2 .....(i)

x - y = 3 1/4 ......(ii)

adding question (i) and (ii)

x + y = 9/2

x - y = 31/4

=> 2x = 31/4

x = 8/31

substituting the value x in equation 1

8/31 + y = 9/ 2

y = 9/2 - 8/31

y =203/62

the value of x = 8/31

y = 203/62
