Maud Martha in ´Home´ is represented in her childhood, worried about the house and her father's decision regarding whether to keep it or not. Instead, in the poem it is a woman who leaves home to study, only to end up alone in that home. In the story there is innocence and hope, in the poem a sad and lonely ending. In both, the idea of "home" is very important to the character.
