L.H.S. = 8 × 2 [tex]-\dfrac{4\times 5+12}{4}[/tex]

= 16 [tex]-\dfrac{20+12}{4}[/tex]

= 16 [tex]-\dfrac{32}{4}[/tex]

= 16 - 8

= 8

= R.H.S., true.

Thus, the given statement is true.
