So we are solving this equation for x and the equation is as follows:

  • 3(x + 6) = -9

First we are going to distribute the 3 inside the parentheses:

  • 3x + 18= = -9

Now we subtract 18 from both sides:

  • 3x = -27

Lastly we are going to divide both sides by 3:

  • x = -9

So the answer to given equation would have to be x = -9.
