The United States refused to allow elections in Vietnam because they feared that Vietnam wold vote for a communist government and the communists would win control

The United States refused to allow elections in Vietnam, because it would lead to spread of Communism in South Vietnam. The United States knew the Communist Party, Viet Minh would have resulted elected. This was the main reason why the United States refused to sign the Geneva Accords, followed by South Vietnam.
