associated sells oranges at 3.00 for five pounds and apples at 3.99 for three pounds. shoprite sells oranges at 2.59 for four pounds and apples at 1.98. which store has the better buy for oranges?

3.00/5 = 0.6 = 60p per pound
2.59/4 = 0.6475 = 64/5p per pound

Therefore the first shop is better for money with being 4p cheaper
