The scientific revolution emphasized the use of empiricism, reason, and the scientific method to understand and construct our understanding of the world around us. Rather than relying on pseudoscience or science unfounded by reason the scientific revolution built a basis for greater scientific enquiry into the world around us based on the scientific method or a way that we can show empirically that certain theories or ideas are true or real.
