  • This adaptive immune response mediates its response in two broad ways:
  • 1. Cell-mediated response
  • 2. Humoral response
  • The cell-mediated response of the adaptive immune system is mediated by the T cells. 
  • The T cells are of various types:

1. Tc (cytotoxic) cells - These are responsible for killing the virus-infected cells or cancer cells.

2. Th (t-helper) cells - they help tailor the immune response towards a specific antigen and also helps activate the B cells that are involved in the humoral immune response.
