Answer: The mountains that we observe on the moon, from earth are those rims forming the lunar mountains and mountain ranges. It has formed due to the asteroidal impact on the surface of the moon, billions of years back, resulting in the depressions and the highland areas. Due to this impact, a huge amount of heat energy generated that eroded and melted much of the materials from the moon's surface.
