Why did the Church see the heliocentric view of the solar system as a challenge to its authority?

According to the Bible, the Earth was the center of the universe and this was a long held belief until  astronomers like Galileo and Copernicus discovered that it is the sun that is the center of the universe.  This was a challenged to the Church’s teaching which they would forbid.
