Anonymous means that people do not know the name or identity of a person. Many times donors wish to remain anonymous because they want people to understand that the gift was out of kindness, not out of a desire for recognition. By remaining anonymous, the donor is able to let the donation speak for itself, and not be overshadowed by who gave it. People choose to remain anonymous for many things, especially when it comes to money or recognition.
