the rulers of Zhou said that they had won the mandate from heaven to overthrow the Shang dynasty, thus justifying their power, the mandate of heaven was argued by:

- China was governed by the justification of heaven

- China could only be governed by one person.

- That person was authorized by the sky to govern China.

- And the government can only be inherited from father to son. (Zhou)
