Langerhans cells , also known as
accessory cells, are antigen-presenting cells of the skin. It functions by
processing antigen material and and present it on the cell surface to the T
cells of the immune system. The cells process microbial agents to be fully
functional antigen-presenting cells. It is similar to blood monocytes.
