After the Israelites revolted, the Babylonians sieged the city and took all remaining Israelites into captivity. God allowed this because of the constant disobedience shown by His people, so God foretold 70 years of exile. True to His word, the Israelites were in captivity for 70 years until the Persians liberated the Israelite people.
