The only thing I can think of is coming from the basic expression for Kinetic Energy:
K=12mv2
that tells us that there is a direct proportionality between kinetic energy K and mass m, so that when you increase the mass of a moving object the kinetic energy will also increase, i.e.:
let us consider a car travelling at, say, 60kmh and having mass of 1000kg; when you have the same car travelling at the same velocity but now with double the mass (you are carrying your mates) the kinetic energy will double as well.
