Exponential rules state that when you divide exponents, you subtract by the powers. The powers have the same coefficients, so you can divide the two numbers.

10⁶ ÷ 10⁻³

10⁶ = 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 = 1,000,000

10⁻³ = 1/1000 = 0.001

1,000,000 / 0.001 = 1,000,000,000

Answer = 1,000,000,000 = 10⁹
