Plagues have brought death and illness to many people periodically, but as destructive as the Black Death was, Europeans survived the pandemic with their culture intact. Does the history of plagues and pandemics show us that we should reject attempts to enjoy life or accumulate wealth, and focus on an eternal life after death?
