** Growing Pains
B. Hawk
5
Growing up is a part of life
So is growing older
You are forever doing both
All at once, all together
Even it's the notion you loathe
The process goes on unnoticed
And unbeknownst to you
You grow a little taller,
A little older,
10 Every moment of the day.
One day, you feel a pulsing pain
In the limb, behind the knee
Cramps in muscles
ACHY, SHAKY!
15 You don't feel the same.
It's all a part of life
So, hold your jostle
Let up your strife
Slow down your bustle
20 Play some fife
The break between stanzas 3 and 4 help the poet convey-

A
B
C
D
concern and worry for older people
encouragement and support for children
a change from feeling pain to feeling no
pain
a contrast between the old and young
